121st Freedom Old Home Week:  Friday, August 2 to Sunday, August 11

Friday, August 2
9:00am-4:00pm Freedom House Antiques Open, 17 Old Portland Rd, 603-539-4815.
2:30pm First Christian Church Children’s Summer Theater Camp performance at Freedom Elementary School: “Malice in the Palace: The Story of Esther“.  Click here for more details.
3:30pm Fun Friday for Elementary Age Kids: Duct Tape Craft, Freedom Library.
5:00-6:45pm Pizza & Movie: “Fairy Tale” Pizza $4, Freedom Library.
5:00-7:00pm Lawn Party with refreshments at 8 Elm Street.  Music by Shana Aisenberg and Gale Johnsen of String Equinox.  Adults only, $5.  Bring an appetizer or sweets.  Rain or shine.  Dress code: Smart casual.

Saturday, August 3  “Parade Day”
9:00am-1:00pm Ladies Guild Quilts & Crafts, First Christian Church of Freedom.  Quilt raffle tickets available.
9:00am-4:00pm Freedom House Antiques Open, 17 Old Portland Rd, 603-539-4815.
9:30am Mango Groove Band, on lawn across from Freedom Village Store.
10:00am Parade through Freedom Village.  Theme: “Freedom Lights the Way 1919-2019”.  Bands! Floats! Music! And more!
10:00am Coffee and donuts outside Town Hall.  Sponsored by Lakeview Cemetery Association.
10:00am Hot Dogs outside Freedom Village Store.  Sponsored by Freedom Village Store.
10:00am-12:00pm Freedom Historical Society & Museum  28 Old Portland Road.
11:00am-2:00pm The 43rd Annual South Eaton Meeting House Luncheon and Fair, Rte 153 to Horseleg Hill Road to intersection of Towle Hill and Burnham Roads, South Eaton.  southeatonmeetinghouse.com
1:00-3:00pm Chinese Auction, Freedom Elementary School.  Benefits the Freedom 4-H.  Tickets on sale ($2.50 for a sheet of 25) from 1:00pm to 3:00pm; tickets will be pulled at 3:00pm.  Hot dogs, drinks, baked goods and popcorn will be available.  Sorry, this event has been cancelled.
5:00-7:00pm  Pig Roast to benefit “End 68 Hours of Hunger”.  Freedom Ball Field.  Roast pig, smoked turkey, sides, and strawberry shortcake.  $25 adults; $12 ages 12 to 16; free for children under 12.  For tickets call Rob or Karen Hatch at 603-539-6879, or see Bill Gatternann at Crossway Repair (off Ossipee Lake Rd.)  Live entertainment by Jackson Battles and the Cadillac Cats.
7:00pm Contra Dance featuring Shana Aisenberg, Beverly Woods and Gale Johnsen of String Equinox.  Join us for a night of fun dancing to great music.  No experience necessary; instruction provided for all dances.  Town Hall.

Sunday, August 4
8:00-9:30am Continental Breakfast: coffee, juice and pastries at Town Hall, sponsored by First Christian Church.
10:00am Welcome Home Church Service, and Children’s Summer Theater Camp performance at Freedom Elementary School: “Malice in the Palace: The Story of Esther“.  Click here for more details.

12:00pm Blessing of the Animals, First Christian Church.
4:00pm “Less Told Stories of Freedom”, presented by Alan Fall, sponsored by the Freedom Heritage Commission, Town Hall (upstairs).
6:00pm 6th Annual Paint Night with Doodlin’ Di, Freedom Town Hall.  Participants will be painting two stemmed wine glasses with a floral or patriotic design.  Cost is $30 per person which includes all supplies.  Bring an appetizer or snack to share, and your own beverage.  Space is limited to the first 20 who register.  Registration is required: email kmchaput@comcast.net to register or for questions.  Click here for more info, including a PayPal button to pay the registration fee online.

Monday, August 5

Wednesday, August 7
9:30-11:30am  History of Cushing Corner with Alan Fall.  Sponsored by Freedom Historical Society and Freedom Heritage Commission.  Meet at Freedom Elementary School to carpool.
10:00-11:30am “Rainforest Reptiles” Family Program, Town Hall.  Sponsored by Friends of the Library.
10:00-11:30am Drama Workshop for grades 5+, Freedom Library.

2:00-3:00pm Get Wet! Groundwater Education through Water Evaluation and Testing, sponsored by the Freedom Conservation Commission and the Green Mountain Conservation Group.  Participants bring in a sample of their home well water and test it for six parameters including chloride, conductivity, hardness, nitrates/nitrites, pH and iron.  Testing is free; however reservations are requested to ensure adaquate testing supplies.  Contact Paul Elie at pauleliefcc@gmail.com or 603-651-1096.  Click here for more information.

6:00-7:30pm Ice Cream Social at Town Office Bandstand, 33 Old Portland Rd (if rain, inside Mason’s Lodge).  Entertainment by The Starlight Honeys.  Ice Cream Sundaes provided by and proceeds to benefit Carroll Lodge #57 F&AM Masonic Lodge of Freedom NH.  Bring a chair or blanket.  Only handicapped parking at Town Office lot, please.

Friday, August 9  “A Day in Freedom Village”
