Friday, July 28 to Sunday, August 6: 119th Freedom Old Home Week

Friday, July 28
2:30pm First Christian Church Music Camp event at Freedom Elementary School: “Moses and the Freedom Fanatics”.
3:30pm Fun Friday for Elementary Age Kids: “Tie Dye & Spin Art”, Freedom Library.
5:00-6:45pm Pizza & Movie: “Boss Baby” Pizza $3, Freedom Library.
5:00-7:00pm Lawn Party with refreshments at 8 Elm Street.  Becky Riley on the keyboard.  Adults only, $5.  Bring an appetizer.  Rain or shine.  Dress code: Smart casual.

Saturday, July 29  “Parade Day”
9:00am Ladies Guild Quilts & Crafts, First Christian Church of Freedom.  Quilt raffle tickets available.
9:00am-4:00pm Freedom House Antiques Open, 17 Old Portland Rd, 603-539-4815.
9:30am Mango Groove Band, next to Freedom Village Store.
10:00am Parade through Freedom Village.  Theme: “Rooted and Growing in Freedom”.  Bands! Floats! Food! Music!
10:00am Coffee and donuts outside Town Hall.  Sponsored by Lakeview Cemetery Association.
10:00am Hot Dogs outside Freedom Village Store.  Sponsored by Freedom Village Store.
10:00am-12:00pm Ice Cream Truck featuring locally made ice cream and novelties, next to Post Office.
10:00am-12:00pm Freedom Historical Society & Museum Special exhibits and scavenger hunt, all ages. 28 Old Portland Road.
11:00am-2:00pm The 41st Annual South Eaton Meeting House Luncheon and Fair, Rte 153 to Horseleg Road to intersection of Towle Hill and Burnham Roads, South Eaton.  southeatonmeetinghouse.com
5:00-7:00pm Pig Roast sponsored by Rob Hatch to benefit the Freedom Food Pantry.  Freedom Elementary School ball field, rain or shine.  Roasted pig, pork butts, turkey, and all the trimmings!  Music featuring local fiddlers “String Equinox”.  $25 adults, $15 kids 12-16, free kids under 12.  Advance tickets available through Rob Hatch (603-539-6879), at Freedom Transfer Station and at Freedom Village Store.  Deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday, July 23.

Sunday, July 30
8:00-9:30am Continental Breakfast: coffee, juice and pastries at Town Hall, sponsored by First Christian Church.
10:00am Welcome Home Church Service and Music Camp Performance at Freedom Elementary School: “Moses and the Freedom Fanatics”.
10:00am-12:00pm Freedom Historical Society & Museum Special exhibits and scavenger hunt, all ages. 28 Old Portland Road.
1:00pm Blessing of the Animals, First Christian Church.
4:00pm “Less Told Stories of Freedom”, presented by Alan Fall, sponsored by the Freedom Heritage Commission, Town Hall (upstairs).
6:00pm 4th Annual Paint Night, with Doodlin’ Di.  Create your own piece of art!  Town Hall, $25, adults only.  Call 603-986-8244, or email Ljemond11@gmail.com, to register as space is limited to 30 participants.  Cash or check payable to Diana Spaulding can be mailed to or dropped off at 50 Elm St, Freedom NH 03836 and must be received no later than Wednesday, July 26.  Update: Paint Night is fully booked!  Waitlist available; call 603-986-8244, or email Ljemond11@gmail.com.

9:30-11:30am Watson Hill Historical walk (moderate).  Sponsored by Freedom Historical Society and Freedom Heritage Commission.  Meet at Freedom Elementary School, 40 Loon Lake Rd.
10:00am “Wildlife Encounters” Family Program, Town Hall.  Sponsored by Friends of the Library.
10:00am Writing Workshop for grades 5+, Freedom Library.

6:00-7:30pm Ice Cream Social at Town Office Bandstand, 33 Old Portland Rd (if rain, inside Mason’s Lodge).  Entertainment by Cedar Mountain Bluegrass Band.  50/50 raffle sponsored by Freedom Old Home Week Committee.  Only handicapped parking at Town Office lot, please.

Friday, August 4  “A Day in Freedom Village”
9:00am-3:00pm Book Sale at the Library.
9:00am-4:00pm Freedom House Antiques Open, 17 Old Portland Rd, 603-539-4815.
9:30am-3:00pm 41st Annual Arts & Crafts Fair, Freedom Elementary School. Sponsored by Freedom Community Club. Food will be available, sponsored by First Christian Church.
9:00am-3:00pm Bake Sale on First Christian Church lawn.  Sponsored by Friends of the Library.
10:00am-12:00pm Freedom Historical Society & Museum Special exhibits and scavenger hunt, all ages. 28 Old Portland Road.
3:30pm Fun Friday: Juggler/Escape Artist/Comedian Steve Corning performing on the Library lawn. Rain location: Town Hall. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.
5:00-6:30pm Pizza & Movie: “Storks”  Pizza $3. Freedom Library.

Saturday, August 5
7:00am 13th Annual OHW 5K Road Race. Questions, contact Pete at pwschiller@gmail.com or at 603-986-1843 (email contact preferred if possible).  Registration form available here or at Freedom Village Store. $15 pre-registration fee includes race t-shirt.  Registrations after July 26 are $20.
– Walkers: Registration ends 7:45am; race begins 8:00am.
– Runners: Registration ends 8:15am; race begins 8:30am.
Free Kids Fun Run around school yard begins 9:15am.
10:00am-12:00pm Friends of the Library Book and Bake Sale. Freedom Library.

5:00pm Fireman’s Lobster Supper or BBQ 1/2 Chicken Supper, Town Hall (takeout available).  Raffle tickets available.  For supper tickets, contact the Freedom Fire Department at 603-539-4261 or the Freedom Transfer Station at 603-539-5364.  Deadline to purchase supper tickets is Wednesday, August 5.

Sunday, August 6
8:30am Ted Acton Memorial Tennis Tournament at Purity Spring Tennis Club, East Madison Rd, Madison.  $10 payable at event.  Please bring food to share.  For questions, call 603-662-6487.
10:00am Old Home Week Closing Service. First Christian Church.
